Millersville University’s McNairy Library needed a modern, efficient way to manage its growing digital collections. With both digitized and born-digital materials to oversee, the library required a solution that was powerful yet intuitive for staff and students. After years on CONTENTdm, the team decided it was time to move forward.
Scott Anderson, Information Systems Librarian and 25-year veteran at Millersville, had seen firsthand how library technology was evolving. As research and teaching became increasingly digital, the need for a unified, all-in-one platform grew clear.
The university selected TIND Digital Archive and TIND Institutional Repository to centralize digital content management. By uniting the two platforms, Millersville simplified workflows, improved efficiency, and created a better user experience. Key features—an intuitive interface, customizable metadata, and responsive support—made the transition seamless, consolidating dissertations, student newspapers, and publications into one cloud-hosted solution.

“It’s all there, in one place. It doesn’t get any easier than that. The library overall is always looking to reduce the number of platforms that users need to interact with, and for me to maintain and configure, so this was an easy ‘two for the price of one’ kind of decision.””Scott Anderson, Information Systems Librarian, Millersville University
With DA and IR combined, Millersville reduced the number of systems to manage while gaining flexibility to handle a wide range of content. Custom metadata schemas and a scalable framework ensure a smooth, intuitive experience for both staff and users.
Unlike their previous system, TIND allows staff to run complex queries directly, without external reporting tools. This transparency helps identify issues quickly and streamline operations.
Batch editing in the OPAC dramatically cut down on overhead. Staff can now make broad changes across collections in a fraction of the time.
TIND’s list-generation tools provide staff with organized views of assets and help students more easily discover relevant materials.
With limited IT resources, Millersville has benefited from TIND’s reliable support and steady rollout of new features—keeping the library current without heavy in-house demands.
"Our move from CONTENTdm to TIND was a very positive experience. We have been with TIND for a handful of years now, and are really starting to dig in. We look forward to many more years of working with TIND.”
